About Us

A space for rural possibility.

The Canadian Centre for Rural Creativity (CCRC) is an independent research centre and a space for experimenting with new ideas for rural communities.

Founded in 2014, the CCRC brings creative thinkers together to explore rural challenges and opportunities. Through research, fellowships and collaboration, we develop ideas that can lead to social and economic change.

We ask challenging questions about the future of rural life, strengthen rural voices and work toward creative solutions for a sustainable future.

Our Mission

We support and work with democratic organizations and build alliances – joining with others to create broad movements for social, economic, creative and restorative environmental change.

Our Vision

We believe in collective leadership and diverse ways of knowing. Through the power of art, local knowledge and knowing of people, we acknowledge the value of sharing ideas. Justice, equality, and support of the efforts of others to shape their own destiny, are core to our vision.

Through education, participatory research, the arts, intergenerational organizing, we work to create a space where people can gain knowledge, hope and courage – where we all can expand our ideas of what is possible and support one another in making positive and sustainable change.

Advisory & Alliance

Advisory

Our Advisory Group brings together people from the local community, across Canada and around the world. Members meet two to three times a year to share ideas, offer guidance and help shape the organization’s future. They may also help develop or take part in projects that match their interests and experience.

Alliance

Our Alliance brings together like-minded organizations locally, across Canada and internationally. Members meet two to three times a year to share knowledge, explore projects they could work on together and strengthen their collective voice for positive change in rural communities.
